The operating system is a liaison between the users of computers with hardware
the computer. Before there was an operating system, people only use a computer with a signal
analog and digital signals. Along with the development of knowledge and technology, at this time
there are a variety of operating systems with the advantages of each. To better understand the system
operation then you should need to know first some basic concepts of operating systems
itself.
General understanding of the operating system is managing the resources contained on the system
computer and provides a set of services (system calls) to the user so as to facilitate and
freshen the use and utilization of computer system resources.


Basic functions
The computer system basically consists of four main components, namely hardware devices, the program
applications, operating systems, and users. The operating system serves to regulate and supervise
use of hardware by various application programs and users.
Operating system to function like a government within a country, in the sense of making the computer condition
in order to run the program properly. To avoid conflict when
users use the same resources, the operating system manage which users can
access a resource. The operating system is also often called the resource allocator. One more function
important is the operating system as a controller program that aims to avoid confusion
(error) and the unnecessary use of computers.
